Gabriella Buttarazzi

Gabriella F. Buttarazzi holds a doctorate on the integration of meditative practices into higher education pedagogy and curriculum, taking an integral approach to knowledge, spirituality and student development. She has published papers on meditation in education (British Journal of Education Research), on teaching and learning in higher education for times of uncertainty (British Educational Research Association) and is currently writing her first monograph based on her doctoral research. She is a member of the Association for Contemplative Mind in Higher Education (ACMHE) and the Philosophy of Education Society of Great Britain (PESGB), as well as a senior teaching fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Gabriella has held a number of university positions as a tutor, lecturer and educational developer at the University of Loughborough, the University of Nottingham Ningbo China and the University of East London, where she currently works in the Centre for Excellence in Learning and Teaching at the University of East London. Having lived and trained in a number of countries (Japan, China, Mexico, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Cambodia, Spain and Italy) she is also a teacher, teacher trainer and educational researcher in integral yoga, meditation and other contemplative practices in, as and of higher education. She has established and run meditation spaces, accredited meditation courses and integral yoga staff programmes in higher education institutions in both China and the UK. She also runs classes, workshops, contemplative reading and writing practices, and has recently established a flagship teacher training programme in Integral Yoga Studies®.
