This book is part of a 12-volume series of readers (Buddies) for secondary schools in Brazil. The stories revolve around the adventures of a group of friends from childhood into their teenage years, and they deal with relevant issues for that age group such as friendship, concerns about the future, changes in their bodies, leisure and relationships. 

In A dangerous journey, seven children and a dog continue their adventure in trying to find out what is causing the water pollution in an area where they are spending their summer. In this story they embark on a journey through the forest to find the source of the pollution.
